The Queens Jewish Agency Coalition
Mission Statement

  • Convene a broad and diverse array of Jewish agencies serving the Queens community to examine what issues and challenges the Jewish community of Queens confronts.
  • Develop a common vision of effectively addressing those issues and challenges
  • Develop and assist in the implementation and coordination of initiatives based on the common findings of the group
  • Advocate for the necessary resources to meet those challenges and improve the quality of life for the entire Jewish community of Queens.
  • Develop relationships and collaborations with other groups, with whom we share our community Specifically, QJAC seeks to regularize the connections between the Jewish agencies, that serve the Queens Jewish community.

These agencies include the two Y's, six Jewish Community Centers, and eight community services arms or Queens branches of citywide agencies. Meetings have proven fruitful as members have established mutually beneficial relationships on behalf of their agencies and clients. QJAC also provides a forum for member agencies to understand the current and emerging trends along with demographic changes, which has implications for service delivery and resource distribution within the borough. The early meetings of QJAC demonstrated the agencies immense need for this information. These new geographic areas of population growth require that services be expanded where the demand exists.
